Let’s Take a Walk

Short blog post this time.

I just want to tell everyone about the upcoming Lansing Kidney Walk on June 13,2010.

We all have our Causes and we usually become involved with those Causes because they hit close to home. Those of you who know me, know that this has been a Cause of mine for many years and for many reasons. As with any Cause, money is needed (and appreciated) for everything from research to helping the patients and families affected by this disease.

“The Kidney Walk presents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, the medical and business communities, and the general public to celebrate life and create lasting community advocacy and long-term support for the Foundation’s mission.” (FB National Kidney Foundation of Michigan).

This year’s Lansing Kidney Walk:

When: Sunday, June 13, 2010
Where: Potter Park Zoo
Time: Registration 12pm – Walk starts: 1:30pm

If you can make it please do. If you can’t make it but want to donate, please do. You can donate to a walker or make a check out to the “The National Kidney Foundation.” Donations are tax deductible.

Thank you!

*17 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant.

Go kidney walkers! I donated to Kiersten. Seventeen people a day–tragic.

Where could folks send their checks?

    • Thanks for asking Sue:-)

      You can send checks to:

      National Kidney Foundation of Michigan
      1169 Oak Valley Dr

      * Make a donation in your own name, in memory of someone special, or to commemorate a holiday, birthday, wedding, or other special occasion.

How long is the walk? Also, are you walking? Are you supposed to get people to donate to you?

    • Robyn the walk is about 2 miles long, thru Potter Park. It’s not a competitive thing, so even kids can do it. I do plan on walking. Doug and Justin walk as well. I try to attend all the walks in Lansing but it all depends on how I feel. Yes we are supposed to get people to donate (sponsor) us but last year we just got donations from my family (and Doug’s boss) and turned them in when we got to the park. We’ve also walked to just show support. This year I’ve been talking to my family about doing a group donation.
